Chi Straightener vs. Solia Flat Iron

Having the best straightener for your hair is essential in getting good results. The thing that makes it hard about getting the best flat irons is that there are tons of them available on the market. Some straighteners may even be good for the first few times that you use them, and then turn out to be complete junk. When it comes down to the best selling ones and the best in customers’ eyes, the Chi brand and Solia brand are usually the top two.

Chi Straightener Pros

The main pro of the Chi flat iron is that it does get the hair really straight. It could be looked at as a con too because some people don’t want their hair to get entirely too straight. Most people who have naturally coarse hair use this straightener and noted that it does the perfect job. They are highly popular amongst the hair straightening industry, but they are a tad bit more expensive than other straighteners too. If price really isn’t a factor to you, then you may be satisfied with it, though you’d have to be extra careful and a warranty may be needed.

Chi Straightener Cons

The Chi straightener may have some good aspects to it, but one problem that most people have is that it usually doesn’t last longer than a year. Most people have reported that the wiring gets shortened very quickly and it can certainly lose its power that it would have when first opened from the box. The Chi’s don’t have that much diversity compared to other flat irons, and most of these straighteners only have one setting.

Solia Flat Iron Pros

Unlike the Chi irons, the Solia irons actually can last for years depending upon how you take care of it. There are even more choices for you to choose from depending on color, ions, heat settings, etc. There’s even a Solia flat iron that has both ceramic and tourmaline ions. You can mostly guarantee your hair would be straight and not frizzy with that flat iron alone. They’re even cheaper than the Chi’s and you’d get a great product for a less amount. It’s even said that the Solia straightens better than the Chi and that they are commonly used in beauty salons.

Solia Flat Iron Cons

There are actually less cons to the Solia flat iron than the Chi. There is a sort of learning curve with the Solia, as that without proper use of it, it’ll snag your ends. These irons can also get really hot and some of them only have one setting. Besides those factors, there really aren’t that many cons to the Solia compared to the Chi. If it came down to it, most people are recommended in getting the Solia than the Chi because of how they’re overall valuable.

Flat Iron Results

When it comes down to it, between the two straighteners, the Solia is actually the best one. It’s cheaper, more dependable, and even straightens better.

How to Straighten your Hair with a Flat Iron

Straightening your hair your hair with a flat hair iron is very simple and depending on the thickness of your hair, can be accomplished in about 20 minutes or less.

First, you will want to start with clean dry, or damp dried hair. Prior to blow drying, you may wish to spray on a shiner, detangler, or volumizer, and this is fine to use with this unique flat iron. Once your hair is dry or close to being dry, section off your hair into upper, lower, back, and side quadrants. You can use barrettes or clips to make this easy.

Then take each section piece by piece, starting close to the scalp with the flat iron and slowly close down with the clamp so you don’t pull on any loss hairs, then once the iron is fully closed pull it gently from the top of the roots all the way to the tips of your hair. Do this slowly (but not super slow) and work your way to the ends. Immediately you will see a huge difference. Very thick, course, or curly hair may take a bit longer to straighten- just be consistent and work your way down the hair slowly a few times until the desired effect is achieved.

The solia tourmaline flat iron is truly unique when it comes to straightening hair because it generates up to 6 times more negative ions upon heating than traditional ceramic irons. These extra negative ions along with gentle far-infrared heat guarantee soft, smooth, frizz-free silky straight hair without heat damage. There are several different styles and width to choose from as well depending on your hair itself and what you would like to achieve with your flat iron.

Easier to Use than Other Flat Irons

Solia’s unique design features self-adjust to provide perfect contact between your hair and the tourmaline plates, eliminating any damaging “hot spots” and “pressure points” so that the Solia flat iron can work through the hair smoothly without pulling. Straightening your hair has never been easier or sexier!

The Solia Flat iron is so diverse that not only can it straighten hair, it can curl, flip, feather, and kink hair into unique beautiful styles. It is such an amazing product that the creators of the Solia Flat Iron give a 2 year warranty on the product. How many other items in your house that you use on a daily basis give that warranty- not many that is for sure and certainly not any other flat iron available on the market today.

How to Care for your Flat Iron

If you’ve finally found the perfect flat iron, then you want to make sure it lasts as long as possible. The key to that is cleaning it after each use. Before doing any cleaning or maintenance on your flat iron, make sure it is switched off and unplugged from the wall socket beforehand. If it’s recently been used, give it several minutes to cool down so that you don’t risk burns.

If you use styling products with your flat iron, then over time the products will build up on the plates of the flat iron. This can cause the plates to be sticky, and result in pulled hair as you slide your hair through the flat iron. You should clean the plates after each use with a special flat iron cleaning solution and a soft cloth (available at beauty supply stores).

Over time, you may notice that the handles of your flat iron have become loose at the hinge. Making sure that your flat iron is completely cooled down and unplugged from the wall socket, you can (on most models) remove the covering over the hinge and tighten the screw underneath to get the two arms of the flat iron taut again.

If you have a habit of wrapping the electrical cord around your styling appliances, this is a habit you should break, because it can easily damage to power cord. Just bundle the cord loosely, and if you want it to look neat while it’s in storage, get a heat resistant mat that turns into a storage case.

Solia Flat Iron Reviews

The reason I purchased my first solia product was because a friend recommended it to me. She ranted and raved about it over the phone and then when I saw her hair- I knew I had to give it a try. It can be difficult sometimes to feel secure in ordering a product you have never used (especially if you order online) however with over 3000 reviews of the solia flat iron- you can have the confidence in knowing that the product is an amazing find. Just read some of the real reviews below or check out some of the amazing before and after photos of actual users here.

5 stars/Great Flat Iron!
Reviewer: Elizabeth from Kentucky

If you are serious about getting healthy and straight hair this iron is perfect for you. After using my sister’s Chi for about a week I knew that I had to get a new flat irons, because my Conair just wasn’t cutting it. My hair was getting really damaged and since my hair is fine it was easily noticed. After reading the reviews and researching up on my investment I found this straightener, which looked the best for the price and for the quality.

I had doubts before I received it, but once I got it in the mail (a month before I was supposed to on Christmas) I whipped it out and my hair became perfectly straight, as good as, or better than the Chi. I would easily say that this straightener matches the quality that the Chi straightens, and it is more durable considering my sister’s is about a year old and the handle is kind of melted.
My friends have used it, one which has super thick hair, and it straightened and flipped out too! I would seriously recommend that you get this product!

5 stars/Worth every penny!
Reviewer: Michelle from Halifax, Nova Scotia

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, I was skeptical since we had used cheap flat irons before and they never worked properly. Her hair was never completely straight and would get frizzy in no time, plus it took forever to do. She has very thick hair, it takes about a half hour to 45 minutes to straighten. Unless she gets it wet, it stays straight and shiny until the next shampoo. Humidity and fog don’t seem to affect the results either. I thought for sure she would need constant touch-ups. Her hair is much more low maintenance now than when curly. I highly recommend this iron!

5 stars/I love my Iron

Solia Tourmaline Flat Iron Makes Hair Sleek, Sexy, Healthy

Wouldn’t it be awesome to wake up in the morning and get ‘perfect’ ready everyday without having to battle your hair ever again?? You can! Ok, maybe I am exaggerating a bit here… not even Cindy Crawford has perfect hair EVERYDAY… but with the solia flat iron; making your hair gorgeous, smooth, and healthy looking is very easy and doesn’t take long to do.

Basically a flat iron is used for straightening hair, but you can also use it to tame fly-aways, to smooth hair, to kink hair, and ever to curl hair. Flat irons work on most every kind of hair, from the most unruly frizzy messes to very thin flat hair and provide an outcome that amazes most all women and men who give it a try. All flat irons are certainly not created equal, just like all cars are not created equal, and the solia flat iron is by far the Rolls Royce of the group minus the high sticker tag. Bottom line, the Solia hair straightener is the most powerful weapon in the hair accessory group giving you shine, smoothness, and sleek hair that no bottle, hair spritz, blow dryer, or even hair stylist can.

How is possible that the Solia Flat iron can make your hair look healthy when it is a hot iron which are widely known to damage hair? The solia flat iron is made from tourmaline which is a semi-precious stone made from a number of natural minerals. Tourmaline is known to contain negative ions and when these ions make contact with your hair, the actual hair molecules draw inward creating a healthy strong strand that looks shiny, sleek, and undamaged. The hair shaft itself is reconstructed to improve hair and makes it look healthier than before. This is truly the genius behind the Solia Flat Iron and is why it is so different than other flat irons on the market.

The Solia tourmaline flat iron heats quickly and gives you the ability to choose the level of heat for your hair. For thinner or more brittle hair you can set the heat on a low setting and for very thick curly, course hair you can turn the heat up. The special tourmaline iron makes sure that the heat is evenly distributed so that no part of your hair gets burned or damaged.

Maintaining your healthy hair is as simple as using the flat iron and making sure that you purchase the solia tourmaline flat iron from a reputable distributor. Like I mentioned before, not all flat irons are created equal. Many flat irons are made with metal plates that heat too quick and become too hot, damaging your hair very quickly. The metal plated flat irons can easily burn your hair if you are not careful resulting in breakage or worse. Solia Flat Irons were created with your hair in mind giving really amazing results but we know that just reading words on a page won’t do it justice so take a look at the video below for some awesome footage of before and after with the best flat iron and be sure to read the reviews we have here and study up on how the solia flat iron can benefit you best.
